Pulsar 200ss Latest Spy pics
If you can’t cool your jets about the launch of the new Pulsar 200SS, Chakan is where you should be. The latest pictures of the bike come to us right from the hotbed of bike manufacture in the country. A test mule of the 200SS was snapped up making runs in the vicinity of the Chakan plant, from where it will be produced. Though the CS400 and SS400 had us wagging our tongues in delight, it wasn’t enough slake the grief of not seeing the lower-displacement 200SS. Well the flipside is that Bajaj plans on launching the 200SS in India first, following which its elder siblings will enter the market.
So here’s a look at some of what we know about the 2014 Bajaj Pulsar 200SS (or SS200) so far. The bike borrows greatly from its naked counterpart- the Pulsar 200NS. Bajaj has installed a fuelinjection equipped version of the Pulsar 200NS engine on the 200SS. Speculation suggests the mill will be good for 25PS power and boast a maximum torque of 20Nm. A six-speed manual setup will assume its dutieson transmission. Suspension on the Pulsar 200SS consists of telescopic forks in front and monoschocks in the back. ABS will be made optional. The display will be digital, except for tachomoeter, which will positioned to the left of the rider.
Renderings of the new Pulsar show it to have a lot in common with the 200NS. This is especially true in the way the fuel tank is built and the seat orientation. Design novelties include, obviously, the semi fairing, which seems to have a rather interesting layered design, and probably new headlights as well.
Bajaj is expected to launch the Pulsar 200SS in mid-2014. Though there is certainly a great deal of excitement regarding the launch of the bike, there has been a segment that has questioned the ability of the 200SS to live up to the hype. Bikes such as the Yamaha R15 and Honda CBR150R are direct rivals of the 200SS. While there is little doubt that the bike will be a success, the enormity of that success will depend on Bajaj’s ability to differentiate the 200SS from the rest of its portfolio.
